The rules on registration of migration in CPR

In this section you will find a short English summary of the rules on registration of migration in the CPR.

Citizen inquiries

There are 98 municipalities in Denmark and each one of them has a Citizen Service Office (Folkeregistret/Borgerservice).

For your information, the CPR-administration is not a Citizen Service Office and therefore does not assign CPR numbers.

If you have questions about applying for a CPR-number or need to update your information in the CPR registration system, you should contact the Citizen Service Office (Folkeregister) in your municipality of residence.

If you have never lived in Denmark, but have a CPR-number for tax purposes, you should contact the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen) and they will update your information in the CPR registration system.

If you need a CPR-number for tax purposes, please contact the Danish Tax Agency (Skattestyrelsen) and they will guide you further.

You can find their contact information via: www.borger.dk or www.google.dk
